Event Description  :

The siva temple is about 250-300 years old and was built by a vassal of the chola empire.
The temple is a part of a agaraharam with a Vishnu temple at the other side which is also
being redone by a group of like minded people . The work of the Vishnu temple is almost
done. The temple is said to have had 10 day festival , with a car festival . More over the
temple had idols of panchaloha for utsavams held . We have approached the priest whose
family has been doing the pumas in the temple for 5 generations . They were very happy and
said that the temple had gone into a dilapidated state because a fire had gutted and
destroyed the agaraharam and they stopped doing pujas cause they were not getting
payment from the lands belonging to the temple as was their due and so its state
deteriorated further into the present state it is in.

With the blessings of HHS Bala Peiyava , as per his advise, The first thing we did was , talked
to the priests and with their consent and blessings to the villagers who agreed to co-operate
if we started work on the temple. We then approached a stapathi with the help of the priests
who has given an design and the estimate for the proposed construction which I am attaching
herewith. The materials required are given in tamil which I have translated into English and
posted below. We are planning to approach HR& CE
(Hindu religious & charitable Endowments ) whose consent is necessary to begin the work
this week .
